Still the best Thai spot in San Marcos. I see alot of former employees leaving negative reviews. So if you see a review from a young woman between 18-30 that is very negative. Chances are she is a former waitress who couldn't cut it.
Seriously the Spicy Basil Spaghetti is insanely delicious. Heat level 1000
I always order extra meat on my dishes. Never have had any issues.
I have dined in, but my preferred method of ordering is carry out.
Staff is friendly. Sue is amazing (Chef) Always glad to see me.
We ordered from this place via DoorDash for the first time and it wasn't bad. The food came piping hot!
We ordered the panang curry, pad see ew, and egg rolls. Everything was pretty tasty. The pad see ew was a little on the sweet side and not as smoky as I'd like it to be. Overall I would order from this place again and try other menu items.
I ordered a pad see ew through grub hub today. No comments or edits, just selected a beef option.
Delivery came on time. But when did this entree get spicy? If I wanted spicy, I would indicate this on my order.
Please don't add spicy for customers who didn't indicate that an entree that didn't specify it.
This is my third time ordering this from the shop and I loved my first two orders.
Came back here for the third time and unfortunately marked them down for the service again. This time we walked out without ordering the delicious food!
The same person was serving as the first time we came- the reason for my poor review. She was pretty busy with take out orders so we happily waited in line to be seated. We were pretty much ready to order within minutes. Plus I even had time to compose and send an email before we called the server out when she was passing us and said we're ready to order. She said 'just two seconds' and scuttled over to another table. She was done with it quite quickly and as she walked by our table again, she said 'I'll get you two waters. We're short-staffed, it's only me.'
We sat there and waited for her, hoping she'll remember to take our order when she comes with our water but she started serving other customers that came after us and went back to the customer from the table she had gone to. We would have felt a lot better if we knew our food was getting ready as we know they work quite fast in the kitchen. There was no prioritization whatsoever.
My husband and I discussed leaving and driving to another thai restaurant. We took some time to figure out how badly our stomach acid was gnawing away at our insides from the hunger, then we got up and left. Best call we made as she didn't even realize we left even though we walked past the till. We must have sat there for 10-15 minutes with zero attention to our table.
From my observation, having had efficient service with take out from the second time I went here, they're better at takeout than dealing with customers dining in. Plus it was a different lady that served us, who understood customer service. Because the food is good, we'll still do takeaways from here but we can't take any more frustrations from poor service.
It's been hard to find authentic Asian food around San Marcos but I finally found one that satisfies my cravings! I found myself in this restaurant 3 times in one week! It definitely hits the spot when you're stressed from a week full of exams and all you want is some comfort food.
FOOD: I've had the red curry, pad seyu, pad thai, and eggplant stir fry. My favorite is the red curry! It's flavorful with a good amount of spiciness and plenty meat. It's probably the best red curry I've ever had. I like that they include rice with the curry and stir fry dishes. Usually places that I've eaten at charge extra for rice. I was able to make 2 meals out of the curry dish. My second favorite dish is the pad Thai. They give so much! The take-out styrofoam container was packed to the top. I think my friend made 4 meals from that. The pad seyu was good but too simple for my liking. The eggplant stir fry was good but pricy for the amount. I think the only complaint I have would be the spiciness level. Once I got a 9/10 but there was zero spice, another time I had 7/10 but it tasted exactly like my friend's 3/10.
SERVICE: Such a friendly staff! The owner is so sweet and easy to talk to and sat by me while I was waiting for my take-out order. You can tell that she works hard because she's all over the place from the back of the kitchen to the front. I like that she tries to build relationships with her customers. I can see that all the employees work very hard as well.
TIP: Dinner seems very busy so call in advance to see if there's a wait if you plan to dine in. Also call in advance if you plan to take out. The wait for 2 dishes took about 40 minutes but I'm glad to know that my meal is cooked fresh!
OVERALL: Must try if you're living in San Marcos and like Asian cooking!
